Our debut album, Late Bloomer, was released into the wild on March 20th, 2026.
"This London-based trio ask: Americana pop - is that a thing? It's an interesting question given that the blending of country, folk, blues, soul, bluegrass, gospel, and rock into the generic term Americana has become common usage term in recent years, while the phrase 'pop music' has been around in its current form since the 50s and was associated with rock n'roll. Together, they suggest a marriage that unites the twang of alt-country with the catchy hooks and melodies of popular songs. The answer to their question is a resounding 'yes' for debut Late Bloomer contains all these elements in abundance. Arriving at this artistic milestone has been a long journey, all three having extensive musical histories, and this collective longevity is clear to hear. The Long Version know how to make a song sound instantly accessible and tuneful riffs abound. For Tricia Davies Nearn, singer and principal songwriter, her lyrics reflect the challenges she's faced to reach the point where, after thirty years of playing bass, she is finally fronting a band, something acknowledged in the album's opening line, 'It's so easy, so terribly easy, to shake a woman's faith in herself.'

"...Late Bloomer, an album that jangles in all the best ways...the band delivers a wonderful set of folk-rock confections sprinkled with a dose of country twang. Produced by the venerable Peter Bruntnell, the band happily wear their influences on their sleeves, and the music sits nicely in the middle ground between chiming folk rock and classic country, with a dash of vintage 1970’s singer-songwriter gold dust for good measure. Nonetheless, the music they produce remains uniquely theirs, sounding like nobody but themselves."

“Blooming lovely...If this isn’t, and soon, under Bob Harris’s radar and onto his show, I’ll be amazed."

Formed in late spring of 2024, The Long Version are: Tricia Davies Nearn on bass and vocals, Jon Heal on guitars and vocals, and David Krupski on drums. Their long combined history in bands aside, this is Tricia's first time up front. Her song-writing reflects her love of the 70s & 80s jangle pop and soft rock as heard on AM radio during her childhood in Seattle. Jon, is a true wordsmith and creative force with an ear for a tuneful riff. David is deft on drums and dad jokes. They are all quite tall and based in South London.
Call Me Baby was released as a single on 19/12/25, almost exactly a year from our first gig!
We're taking a break over the summer, but look forward to getting out and playing come September. Enjoy the sunshine, friends!
